“How in the world have you been able to Macro count for SO long?”
This is a question Krista and I get frequently from close friends and family members, and we felt like if they were asking then you might be wondering too.
First and foremost… #GOALS. Remember that one time Krista and I posted our back fat for the Internet? Well, incase you’ve forgotten here are a few gems to jog your memory.
After we posted these photos and let it all hang out in the Putting Your Oxygen Mask on First blog, we got all sorts of reactions.
“Oh my gosh… you’re BRAVE.”
“YES!! You’re REAL people!”
“Can I like this post 1,000 times?”
Our vision for Stay Fit Mom has always been to communicate to our readers that we are NORMAL moms. We barely make it through the day. We are exhausted. And we are YOU. We aren’t body builders or super athletes. We weren’t born with amazing genes. We so desperately wanted to share the reality of the journey with our audience.
But one thing that has kept us solid throughout this process has been surrounding ourselves with a community of incredible women. Women that share their struggles openly with the group, women that post their amazing transformation pictures every week, and women just as busy as we are, that are killing it in the nutrition department!
Also, I’ve had chocolate chip pancakes every day for the last week. Yep, you read that right. I also have chocolate covered pretzels and ice cream. My family and I get to eat a regular dinner together every night. Gone are the days of watching my family eat pizza as I eat my zucchini noodles and lettuce wraps. We all get to partake in balanced meals!
Macros has also been incredible for my family budget. We don’t eat out hardly at all because it just isn’t worth the macros! I wrote a whole post entitled Eating Out and Macro Counting that explains the gist of it, but eating home cooked meals around the dinner table every night has been great for our family in more ways than one.
The best part about macros is the longer you do it, the easier it gets, AND the better your results get! Inputting your food becomes second nature. You’ve got a slew of go-to delicious macro friendly recipes in your back pocket, and your metabolism gets into what we call the “burn zone!” You get to eat more food and still see body composition changes!
Finally, we aren’t perfect. We aren’t macro robots that hit their numbers 365 days a year. We ENJOY our vacations, date nights, and time away from tracking GUILT free because we know that CONSISTENCY Trumps Perfection. We know that counting macros yields incredible results, unlike anything we’ve ever tried, so we don’t freak out if the scale blips up or our pants start to feel a little bit tighter. We don’t shame ourselves and dwell on what we wish we looked like…we put our heads down and WORK! One day, one week, and now one year at a time.
We had Nate re-take our back fat picture because we thought it was time. We’ve worked hard. We are proud of our results and we have loved sharing our journey with so many other women that have joined us!
